Born Free 5 Chopper show
Born Free 5.
We got up around 4am and got ready for a 450k ride down to the show.
I went to the shed and pulled out the trusty rusty Dyna that the wife and I would ride for the day.
I rechecked the oil levels and the ties holding on camping gear and we where ready.
But...
When I tried to start her up, The battery was flat dead. Click click click.....
The auto part store in town (30k each way) had one and they opened at 7am.
It took another hour to top charge the new battery and the Harley fired up.
We where finally on the way at 9am.
Traffic was horrible. It was about 40c and humid. We hit the 101 freeway south. Once we got to downtown LA, traffic just came to a dead stop. We filtered through about 50k worth of traffic on the 5 highway and when we got to the event, traffic was backed up for miles. People where complaining about having to wait in there cars for over 2 hours to get through the gate and into the car park. I'm so happy we where on a bike! We rode the center line all the way in!
Once we got into the event, it was around 1pm and the only way to describe what was in the show is total sensory overload.
Every where you looked there where cool chops. Thousands of them. And from what I hear, there where thousands more in the car park, but we never made it out there. There was too much to possibly see even a small fraction the cool stuff that was everywhere you looked.
We never even found the Dice Booth, But thanks for the offer of the raffle ticket Neo Dutch Dave!
I'm too tired to resize pictures to post right now, we rode home after the show. 990k round trip in 35c + temps....
But here is a link to some of the pictures: http://s180.photobucket.com/user/Keithi ... 20Free%205
Cheers
Keith

There are a lot of shows, both here and there,Pygmy wrote:great pics keith, to bad this country is still living in the dark ages when it comes to bike shows that atrack the unusual and different in design, well worth the ride.
But I have never seen anything like BornFree.
The Horse Smoke out is close, but on the East coast of the US.
If a guy was traveling, He could start in North Carolina at The Smokeout, Then ride west and end up at BornFree, Then hit the beach and fly back out.....
Best 2 weeks of your life maybe.....
Just sayin'

Ride it like you can fix it.
Re: Born Free 5 Chopper show
