Original hd frame and engine from US

I have asked Choppaweeza provide advice based on his business experience in this forum. There are a variety of ways of avoiding Australian regulations... please don't expect him to give advice in those areas.

Original hd frame and engine from US

Post by Kerr1988 » Mon Jan 28, 2013 2:53 pm

If i was to apply for import approval of, lets say a 58 pan motor in an original 42 hd frame, would i encounter issues if all info is declared in the application?

Ask Wayne at Chopaweeza.

How do you know it's a '42 frame? If it is a '42, then it has been modified to fit the Pan in. Some of these conversions are dodgey to say the least. Frame breakages were common if done by the hamfisted.

What is it titled as? if it is 58 and looks reasonable stock the frame should'nt have any numbers on it, who would know.
A guy I know just brought over a late pan in a knuck frame no probs.
some meaningless dribble

yeah KBG thats what i figured, i just needed a bit of extra confidence - the years were just an example to confirm that as long as the mods to a frame originally manufactured by HD aren't too substantial (removing sidecar mounts and things like that) then import approval is still quite likely.
cheers!

Are you talking about a whole bike or just a motor and frame mate?
