Tyre changing station

Post by chopperal » Wed Apr 09, 2008 3:04 pm

Noted the trumpy had a big piece of wire sticking out of it the other day.

Got the tyre off. Needed to buy a new tube tho cause I trashed the valve in the old one.

But anyway, thought I'd see what was on the net before I attempted to put it all back on the rim.

Found this and thought someone else might find it helpful too.

cheers, al :)

I didnt read the article, but its worth knowing.

A Kiwi bloke i knew years ago had a short piece of round alloy 1" and approx 180mm long, with a notch ground in it about 1/5th of the way up the reason its alloy is because its softer than the metal rim, so no marking...he also had a nylon one too. you peel back the tyre with the tyre iron, slip the dohickey in so the groove rides the lip of the rim..and belt the bejesus out of it until the rim and tyre part company. It worked really well and was quick way to remove tyre. rounded edges stop you pinching the tube and the whole lot thing will fit in your tool kit.
