Tank sealant. Recommendations?

Post by Bearcx » Fri Apr 24, 2015 12:06 pm

Hey everyone.

Been a while since I've touched the CX, and the fuel tank has an external coating of surface rust. As there is no fuel tap etc, the inside has obviously copped the same abuse from the weather. So, my question is, have you used a tank sealer such as KBS or POR15?
I read about Redkote on the 'net, it's a single chemical, (not a 3part). Any advice?

Cheers.

Thanks Hustler. Might just add that the tank has been widened from stock and welded in several different areas. Another reason for me wanting to make sure its sealed inside.

Check with your auto paint supplier. There is an alternative to POR15 which is apparently as good, but much cheaper. KBS does ring a bell, but not sure. Both products have a metal cleaner/primer as part of the process.
