Suggested metals components on harleys

Post by psychomatt » Mon May 02, 2011 4:54 pm

Hey guys,

So i have a king/queen seat plan for the sporty and thus am going to make a sissy bar to mount to the swingarm. I plan on basing the design off a stock harley sissy bar where the rod is welded to a plate that bolts to the rear stuts.

Would simple raw metal be up to the job? with all the vibration that it will undertake what metal and type of welding should i use? Same goes for the bolts? Does everything need to be high tensile?

anyhelp is appreciated.

6mm plate for the sides. 12-15mm round for the sissy.
Don't let your luggage define your travels.
