Re: Springer build with a difference...

Great plan and excellent execution. Your years of thinking and planning really show with this unique and awesome build! Guess you must have seen AEE's attempt at using dual shocks to build a springer; saw it in a Street Choppers magazine back in the mid '70s. I have images of the 3-page article but ...

Re: Long term Triumph Chopper project

Great update. Such a good deal you got, not only a wheel for your chop but a '64 chop project for your son! It will be great to follow the build of the next one too - I wish him luck! I think this may be your front wheel(should be 18"): https://draganfly.co.uk/images/shop/triumph/650unittwin/frontwh...

Re: Long term Triumph Chopper project

That looks great in the zero-rake position! Good to hear it meets the silly regs too. Been thinking about an option for your machine...well a couple more; one could be as I mentioned before - leave the frame neck where it is - no change in rake and still tied to the backbone as original, and just st...

Re: Honda 750 chopper in Gumtree...

Nice stance, love the Harman internal-sprung girder. Is it that bike you want or are you looking for a rigid Honda 750 chop? I see one for sale now on gumtree, in Gympie Area: https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/OTAwWDE2MDA=/z/ufYAAOSwmBhbxV-m/$_103.JPG $9,500. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-motorcycles/honda+...

Re: Improved Sporty battery setup...

Prof, in the pics above of your rear frame is the first time I noticed somethin' a little different with your axle plates...whats goin' on there...it looks like they are mounted on pivot bolts...are you hiding a swingtail in there?

Re: Long term Triumph Chopper project

Gotta agree with you, That does look awesome! 8) I notice that you have the P&P girder in the +10 degree rake position - is this when you are over the 'Ridicule Rule'? What if you pull in the bottom to the zero rake position? That will put the front of the bike up a bit more, but will it fit the 550...

Re: Captain America revisited...

Great work Prof. This replica is definitely "an exercise"! "Challenge in this case has been to find clear shots of the right side of the original chopper." I noticed here you had to relocate the master cylinder line to clear the pipes...thinkin' that the master cylinder needs to be moved (hidden) an...

Re: Long term Triumph Chopper project

It may be a bit late for this, but is really interesting; original instructions from P&P for their girder:

Re: Captain America revisited...

Great research and attention to detail Prof! Seems like most of the photos are from the left side... a bit of info here that may help: ". ..Fonda’s iconic red, white and blue stars and stripes panhead chopper, with chromed hard tail frame, was designed and built by two African-American chopper build...

Re: Long term Triumph Chopper project

Good to see it (kinda) on the frame. When measuring for neck spacers, aim to get the linkage mounts between upper and lower tree the same distance apart as the mounts on the girder legs; this will help promote smooth action without binding through the travel of their arc. What is your measurement on...

Re: Long term Triumph Chopper project

That machine work looks awesome! Be great to see it installed - should make for a great upgrade. Are both sets of holes, the Zero° and 10° in the legs where the lower pair of linkages attach threaded for the cross shaft? Do you know which position you will be running it in (0 or 10°rake)? Been looki...
